Barcelona will be allowed to spend €66 million more than Real Madrid this season, according to the new salary cap data released by La Liga on Thursday.

The Catalan club, who have a spending limit of just over €632m, top the Spanish Primera Division's ranking ahead of Los Blancos (€566m) and Atletico Madrid (€293m). Newly promoted Real Valladolid has the least wiggle room with the smallest cap at €23m.

The figures indicate the maximum amount that each of the 20 La Liga clubs can spend during the 2018-2019 campaign, including spending on first-team players, the manager, assistant manager, fitness coach, reserves, the youth system and other areas.

La Liga imposed a salary cap in 2013. The concepts included by La Liga in the squad spending limits are fixed and variable wages, social security contributions, collective bonuses, acquisition costs (including commissions for agents) and amortisations (player transfer fees allocated annually based on the number of years that the player is under contract).
