WITH seven balls to go, Bangladesh was just eight runs away from ending its 21-month wait for a one-day international series win.

Two full tosses later the Tigers were in disarray.

Chasing 272 to win against the West Indies and secure an unassailable 2-0 series, Bangladesh had cruised to 4-264 with Mushfiqur Rahim and Sabbir Rahman looking set to finish the job.

However, on the final delivery of the 49th over things went astray, with Sabbir (12) heaving a full toss from Keemo Paul into the hands of deep midwicket.

On the very next delivery, Mushfiqur (68) pulled a full toss from Jason Holder straight to deep midwicket. It left Bangladesh needing eight runs off the final five deliveries with two new batsmen out in the middle.

That proved too tough a task for the tourists, with Holder only conceding four runs for the over.

Earlier Shimron Hetmyer’s 93-ball 125 helped the West Indies to a total of 271 all out, while Rovman Powell’s steady 44 from 67 also helped keep the scoreboard ticking over.

Holder had gone for nearly seven an over before saving his side at the death. He removed the Bangladesh top scorer and restricted Mosaddek Hossain and Mashrafe Mortaza as the best-of-three series was levelled up 1-1.
