The result: Pakistan 8-97 (Bismah 34, Riaz 17; Schutt 2-15) lost to Australia 1-98 (Healy 67*, Mooney 21; Natalia 1-17) by nine wickets with 58 balls remaining at Kinrara Academy Oval

The match in a tweet: A nine-wicket win sees Australia complete a series whitewash after a scintillating performance in the third T20I against Pakistan. Now, it's #WT20 time.

The hero: Alyssa Healy continued her red-hot form with an unbeaten 67 from 41 deliveries to carry Australia to victory inside 11 overs. The wicketkeeper-batter set the tone in the first over of the chase, striking back-to-back boundaries, and continued to feast on the Pakistan attack as she put on 60 for the first wicket with Beth Mooney before the latter perished in the eighth over. Healy brought up her second half-century of the series – and her third from Australia’s last five T20I matches – from just 34 deliveries. Her 41-ball blitz featured 10 fours and two maximums, Healy clearing the ropes for the first time over long off in the fourth over before a second huge strike down the ground in the 10th put Australia within five runs of victory, which she sealed soon after with a four.

The support acts: Another superb performance with the ball and in the field, including four run outs, meant Australia needed just 98 to complete a series whitewash and head into next month’s World T20 as the No.1 ranked side. Stand-in captain Rachael Haynes set the tone with a brilliant direct hit in the third over that caught Javeria Khan (six) well short of her ground. A promising 49-run stand between Bismah Maroof and Aliya Riaz came to an end thanks to another excellent piece of fielding, this time from Sophie Molineux, which had Riaz run out for 17 (29), before a third run-out had Bismah dismissed for 34 (43). Schutt was again brilliant with the ball, collecting 2-15 from her 4 overs, while Delissa Kimmince (1-12 from four) and Ashleigh Gardner (0-8 from three) made life hard for the hosts.

The consolation effort: It was a tough day with both bat and ball for Pakistan but they will take solace from the efforts of Bismah in her second game back since undergoing sinus surgery. Bismah was dismissed first ball in the second T20I but bounced back on Monday with a 43-ball 34, finding the boundary three times. She’s likely to return to her usual role as skipper for the World T20 and Pakistan will want their leader in form.

The injury concern: Captain Meg Lanning was ruled out of the match with a minor lower back injury, with deputy Haynes stepping up to lead the side. Lanning will be assessed once the team arrives in Antigua, and the Australians will be crossing their fingers that their skipper is available for their first World

The comeback: Jess Jonassen returned to the Australian XI for the first time since injuring her knee during a pre-season camp in September. The left-arm finger spinner went under the knife and missed Australia’s T20Is against New Zealand and the first five matches in Malaysia, with her comeback a positive sign ahead of the World T20.

The ICC rankings: Australia’s whitewash victory ensures they remain on top of the ICC T20I team rankings and they’ll now head into next month’s World T20 as the No.1 side. Australia came into the series holding a narrow three-point lead over second-ranked New Zealand and needed to complete a 3-0 win to maintain that position. The next stop: Antigua! Australia’s 15-player World T20 squad will fly directly to the Caribbean on Tuesday to continue their preparations for the ICC tournament. Their first destination is Antigua – which is hosting the tournament finals – for a warm-up game against England on November 3. From there, they’ll travel to Guyana for a second warm-up against South Africa, ahead of their first group match against Pakistan on November 9.
