Australia include Stoinis for second Test against Sri Lanka

Marcus Stoinis, the all-rounder, has been added to Australia's squad for the second Test against Sri Lanka in Canberra, starting on February 1. Meanwhile, Matt Renshaw, the opener, has been released from the squad and will be available to play for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.

Stoinis, who plays for Western Australia, has bagged 10 scalps and accumulated 298 runs during the course of the 2018-19 first-class season. He is yet to make his Test debut, and has aggregated 2857 runs and snared 52 scalps in first-class cricket overall.

"We made the decision to add Marcus to give us the flexibility to play an all-rounder in the event the conditions require an extra bowling option in the line- up," Trevor Hohns, the chief selector said.

"Marcus has been a consistent performer this season, he has displayed strong all round form in First Class cricket and continued that form into the Australian ODI series against India. We've also decided to release Matt Renshaw from the squad so he can be available for the Brisbane Heat in their upcoming BBL fixtures."

Australia took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series with a crushing innings and 40-run win in the first Test at the Gabba.
