West Coast star Nic Naitanui turned tour guide on Sunday for Premier League legend and Manchester United ambassador Dwight Yorke ahead of the English club’s blockbuster trip to Perth in July.

Seafood was on the menu as the pair plucked western rock lobsters from the ocean and no trip could be complete without the requisite quokka selfie, although the animals seemed more interested in Yorke than Naitanui’s phone.

The duo’s visit to Rottnest Island marked the first time Yorke had been in a seaplane.

“I was a little bit scared but it was a wonderful day and Rottnest Island was a great experience,” he said.

“I think the players will look forward to the experience ... one of the great opportunities for playing for such a great club, you get to travel, you get to meet the fans and Perth is a wonderful city.”

Yorke was in town to promote Manchester United’s planned 10 day visit to Western Australia and revealed there would be an open training session at the WACA ground on July 11.

Entry to the training will cost $5 which will be donated to Telethon and the Manchester United Foundation.

Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said they would pack as many people as they could into the session and there would be a lot more quokka selfies to come.

“We are going to get as many Manchester United and Leeds United players out there (Rottnest) as we can,” he said.
