The Gunners were indebted to Petr Cech in the 0-0 draw with Stoke City on Sunday and the Gunners boss is likely to consider it a point gained at the Britannia Stadium.

Arsenal needed their goalkeeper Petr Cech at his very best as they moved back to the top of the Premier League table with a goalless draw at Stoke City on Sunday.

The Gunners are first in the league on goal difference but their manager Arsene Wenger will consider this a point gained in his quest for a first title since 2004.

Stoke were the more assertive side for most of the match but could not find a way past Cech, who had another superb game, the highlight of which was a wonderful double save to keep out Joselu and then Bojan.

At the other end, Arsenal looked toothless as star man Mesut Ozil missed out with a foot injury. The visitors struggled to create any chances of note and on the two occasions that Olivier Giroud did have a sight on goal, he was denied by Jack Butland in the Stoke goal.

It was the first time this season that Wenger has been without both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez - and the Frenchman will be desperate for his two star men to return for next weekend's clash against Chelsea.
