Andy Moles has been appointed the Director of Cricket and chief selector of Afghanistan, it was confirmed on Wednesday (October 4).

Moles has previously worked with Afghanistan as coach between 2014 to 2015 and was also the interim head coach after the 2019 World Cup with Phil Simmons stepping down.

Afghanistan cricket has seen several changes after their below-par World Cup campaign with Lance Klusener appointed head coach till 2020. Rashid Khan has been handed the captaincy for all formats after Gulbadin Naib failed to inspire the side during his short stint.

Afghanistan registered a Test win over Bangladesh in Chattogram by 224 runs. They then reached the final of the T20I tri-series but were forced to share the title with Bangladesh after rain washed out play.
