Jasprit Bumrah's incredible spell of 5 for 7 ensured a big win for India by 318 runs in the opening Test in Antigua. All five of Bumrah's wickets came through the outswinger (to the right-hander) and inswinger (to the left-hander).

Not conventionally known to be his strength, Bumrah revealed that the change of tact was brought about by the conditions at play at the Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.

Citing the wind blowing across as a factor, Bumrah said, "We used the breeze to our advantage and stuck to our plans, to bowl inswing from that end and outswing from this end."

Revealing more about how he got this skill into his own game, Bumrah cited experience as a positive. "Lot of hard-work and practice goes into that (bowling the outswinger). I always had the inswinger but the more I played the more confident I got. Playing with the Dukes ball in England helped me a lot too. It has helped my confidence," he said after the match to the broadcasters.

With Ishant Sharma picking up a five-wicket haul in the first innings and Mohammed Shami chipping in with breakthroughs as well, India's pace unit accounted for 18 of the 20 wickets in Antigua. And Bumrah shed light on the talks going on between the pace group.

"[We are] always trying to evolve as a bowler and always trying to do new things and when the ball is not swinging maybe try and use the seam to get the movement. Lot of communication goes between the bowlers and sometimes you just need to hit good areas and everything else will follow," said Bumrah.

Meanwhil, Virat Kohli, in the post-match presentation, cited workload management as one of the most important aspects of getting the best out of his fast bowlers. Bumrah, who was rested for the white-ball portions of this tour after the World Cup, did not show signs of being at his best in part of the first innings. "[I was] playing after sometime and little stiffness on my back, pace was also down and I was just trying to figure out what was going on. But in the second innings, it was all sorted out. Looking forward to the next game," said Bumrah.
