UMPIRE ‘Razor’ Ray Chamberlain took centre stage in the final quarter of Friday’s nights AFL game between Richmond and Port Adelaide.

The umpire has somewhat of a cult figure in the AFL, known for his likeness of the spotlight — exchanging words between players from both clubs late in the match.

The lighthearted exchange between Richmond premiership player Shaun Grigg and Chamberlain lit up social media, with the umpire giving out some life advice to the 202-gamer.

“You need to calm down … just relax,” Chamberlain said to Grigg.

“We don’t talk to one another like that.”

Channel 7 commentator Bruce McAvaney declared that Chamberlain’s extended discussion might’ve been “the best commentary for the night.”

The 41-year-old umpire recently earnt life membership, after umpiring his 300th AFL game on Anzac Day.
