AFL FANS are still reporting their struggles to buy finals tickets via Ticketek despite the company staggering sales for clubs.

Problems for the ticketing giant started yesterday with the website crashing with AFL and MCG chiefs demanding compensation for furious fans.

Despite today staggering times for particular matches, the issues don’t appear to be resolved with some fans once again furious about missing out.

It comes as the AFL’s general manager of club operations Travis Auld admitted they were powerless to stop the meltdown.

“This is the heart of the issue … we have this historic arrangement where our venues select their ticketing agents … we’ don’t have any role to play in those conversations,” he said told Neil Mitchell on 3AW morning.

It just “wasn’t good enough” from the agency, he said

“We’ve got a big week of finals coming up and the fact that our fans can’t buy a ticket to watch their team play is unacceptable,” Mr Auld said.

The deal with venues and ticketing agents was something the AFL wanted to revisit after the finals.

“We need to review the structures of the arrangements and have the seat at the table,” he said.

“This is at the heart of the issue”.

The Melbourne Cricket Club announced in July it would continue the partnership with Ticketek.

“The renewed partnership will ensure patrons continue to receive world’s best practice in ticketing technology and service,” a statement released in July said.

The club’s chief executive Stuart Fox said at the time the reappointment was a “big win” for fans and members of all codes that play at the venue.

“As the leading ticketing partner to the sports and live entertainment industry in Australia, we’re delighted that Ticketek will continue to provide its ticketing services at the MCG and we look forward to working with them to bring some new and exciting events to the stadium,” he said.

While others struggled to get a hold of their tickets for the second day running there were a few happy customers this morning.

Some clubs have also said things were going smoothly so far.

All $7.20 transaction fees for week one finals at the MCG will be waived after the technical issues at Ticketek yesterday saw all ticket sales suspended.

The AFL said Richmond and Hawthorn members could buy tickets from 11am on Wednesday, with Melbourne and Geelong at 1pm and Sydney and Greater Western Sydney at 3pm.

AFL Members passes will be on sale from 9am on Thursday.

General admission tickets for the Tigers and Hawks go on sale at 1.30pm on Thursday, with the Demons v Cats at 2.30pm and Swans v Giants at 4pm.
