MELBOURNE have dismissed concerns over the fitness of star duo Max Gawn and Neville Jetta ahead of Saturday’s preliminary final against West Coast at Optus Stadium.

The pair were notable absentees from the Demons’ training session at Gosch's Paddock today.

However, a club spokesman said they were on light duties and trained away from the main group behind closed doors.

Teammate Alex Neal-Bullen did the same, according to the spokesman, who said all three would join in the Demons’ main training session of the week on Wednesday.

All-Australian ruckman Gawn battled a minor calf complaint late in the home-and-away season, but did not miss any matches.

He and brilliant defender Jetta have been important contributors in Melbourne’s run deep into September and shape as keys to their chances of upsetting West Coast.

The winner will earn a spot in the grand final against the winner of Friday’s Richmond-Collingwood preliminary final.
