Coach Adam Simpson has signed a new deal at West Coast.

Simpson will stay at the Eagles until at least the end of 2022 after inking a contract extension.

It’s welcome news for the club ahead of their finals opener against Collingwood at Optus Stadium next week.

“It’s obviously re-assuring to have the endorsement from the board that they support the direction we are taking,” Simpson told the club website.

“We have been in constant dialogue in recent months and I am really pleased to have the opportunity over the next four years to continue to build on what we have started.

“We have transitioned our squad over the last 12-18 months and I am excited about the next phase of our progression.”

Simpson, in his fifth year as coach, has helped the Eagles defy the critics and secure a top-two finish despite being without ruckman Nic Naitanui, wingman Andrew Gaff and forward duo Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling for large chunks of the season.

He has a winning percentage of just under 64 per cent and took the club to a grand final in 2015.

More to come.
