NOT even video evidence was enough to convince D’Arcy Short he was run-out in the second T20 against Pakistan on Saturday morning.

He was deemed to have left his bat raised in the air - ŕ la Marnus Labuschagne - when a straight drive flicked off the bowler’s hands and into the stumps.

A third umpire review gave him out and he was forced to return to the sheds for two, as Australia needed 147 to keep the three-match series alive.

Both Short and batting partner Aaron Finch were left in disbelief by the decision, and could be seen remonstrating with the on-field umpire.

The wicket in the third over triggered a mini-collapse, as fellow white-ball gun Chris Lynn departed two overs later for seven.

Finch was also dismissed in the seventh over after making three runs off ten balls, leaving Australia at 3-31.

A courageous knock from Glenn Maxwell then fell short of saving Australia from a T20 series loss.

The side finished on 8-136 as Pakistan won by 11 runs, making it 10 consecutive T20 series wins.

Speaking after the match, Maxwell didn’t mince his words when giving his view on the Short runout.

“We certainly had a view as a team that we thought his bat was clearly grounded behind the line,” he said.

“Maybe the third umpire pressed the wrong button. We’ve all made mistakes.

“As we probably saw it in the change rooms, there wasn’t really any doubt.”
