76ers forward Robert Covington injured his back late in Saturday night's loss to the Cavaliers after he crashed into the crowd chasing a loose ball.

With just over a minute to play and the 76ers trailing by one, Covington hustled all the way across the court to pursue a loose ball tipped out on a missed Cavaliers shot. He crashed backward over the courtside seats beside the Cavs' bench.

After a stoppage in play, Covington had to be helped off the court.

Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports Covington suffered a lower back contusion. Although he is traveling with the team to New Orleans, his status has yet to be determined for Sunday's game against the Pelicans.

“It’s scary to see your teammate like that,” 76ers forward J.J. Redick said (via NBC Sports Philadelphia). “They said he fell on his back. I wanted to make sure he’s walking and not in too much pain. But I just wish the best for him and hope he’s OK.”
Covington is averaging 15.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for Philadelphia
