ZTE boasted that it sold out the first batch of Nubia X6 phablet units in less than ten seconds (9.8 to be precise). Curiously however, the Chinese manufacturer did not mention a specific number of units sold, thus leaving some room for interpretation on the magnitude of the achievement.
ZTE’s crafty “hunger marketing” strategy should hardly catch anyone by surprise. The sales tactic is particularly popular in China and involves releasing a hyped device online in limited stock which leads to a quick sellout. Xiaomi in particular has been really keen on using the trick – it helped it sell 100,000 $161 Redmi Note handsets in only 34 minutes back in March.
The ZTE Nubia X6 is one of the best equipped phablets available at the moment. Its specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32/64/128 of on-board memory, 6.4” 1080p display, and a duo of 13MP cameras. All the hardware goodness is tucked into a sleek-looking, metal-clad body.
ZTE has scheduled the next Nubia X6 flash sale for May 27 at 10am local time. The device is priced at CNY 2,999 ($481).
