Chinese company ZTE is back in the United States with yet another budget-friendly smartphone. This time, the handset maker has partnered with AT&T's prepaid carrier Cricket Wireless, to offer customers one of the cheapest smartphones powered by Android 5. Lollipop.

However, apart from the low price and Lollipop, there's nothing else that would make the phone stand out, but that should be enough anyway.

Dubbed Overture 2, the smartphone is now available for purchase via Cricket Wireless for only $50 without contract.

Still, in order to get it for that amount you will have to activate it on Cricket's network, along with one of the carrier's monthly plans that start at $40.

The good news is that you can even get the ZTE Overture 2 for free if you purchase and activate the phone before July 9 since you will receive a mail-in rebate good for $50.

The successor of the ZTE Overture, a smartphone launched in the United States about 2 years ago, Overture 2 comes with decent specs, fit for a budget-friendly device.
Unimpressive, but decent specs

The worst piece of hardware seems to be the 4.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports only 480 x 854 pixels resolution. Aside from that, the phone is pretty standard for an affordable device, when it comes to specs.

For example, on the inside, the Overture 2 is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

Also, the smartphone comes with a 5-megapixel photo snapper in the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording, as well as a secondary VGA camera in the front.

As mentioned earlier, ZTE Overture 2 ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box. It's also worth mentioning the smartphone is powered by a 2,100 mAh battery and includes Dolby Digital Plus surround sound.
