Previous reports indicated that Microsoft was planning to roll out Windows 10 Mobile for Windows Phone devices by the end of the month, and according to a recent report, the new operating system could see daylight as soon as the next few days.

There’s no confirmation of this, and you should take it with a pinch of salt, but the new information comes from Vodafone Italy, which admits that Windows 10 Mobile could launch by late March.
WindowsBlogItalia writes that Vodafone Italia has confirmed that Windows 10 Mobile is set to go live “in the coming days,” so it’s either this or next week.
Certainly, this is quite some news for the Windows Phone community, but once again, we’ve seen previous reports in the past. Thus, the one thing that we’ve learned is that nothing should be taken for granted unless Microsoft specifically says it (and not even in this case, as at least two Windows 10 Mobile targets have already been missed).
.164 to be the final release? On the other hand, work on Windows 10 Mobile preview builds continues, and Microsoft is also expected to release new versions for members of the Windows Insider program. The company is focusing mostly on fixing bugs and improving performance in 10586 builds while new features and options are only added to builds that are included in the Redstone branch.
The latest 10586 build is .164 and is currently available for both retail users and insiders, which could be a sign that Microsoft is pleased with its performance and could use it as the upgrade version for Windows Phone users too.
“The previously released 10586.122 build is nearly identical to this new .164 build. There are no major feature changes between the two builds. Changes were focused on a few key bug fixes and other required updates to ensure this build was ready to release to Retail users,” Microsoft said last week.
As usual, the only thing we can do right now, given Microsoft’s CIA-like secrecy, is to wait, but hopefully, this wait isn’t going to be long.
Update: a new report claims Microsoft could announce Windows 10 Mobile today, but once again, take this as a rumor and nothing more.
