WhatsApp is clearly the leading messaging app on mobile devices, and fortunately, not only is the application available on Windows Phone as well but it also receives updates on a regular basis.

A recent update for WhatsApp has pushed version to 2.12.318 and has brought an important change, which in its turn signals the imminent arrival of another feature.
As Italian website AggiornamentiLumia has noticed, with this update, it’s finally possible for Windows Phone users to receive documents on their devices. But not everything is as good as it sounds.
Receive docs from iOS and Android users First of all, users can indeed receive PDF documents on WhatsApp, but they can’t yet send them. So basically, a WhatsApp user with iPhone or an Android device can send a Windows Phone handset owner a PDF document, but not the other way around. The feature already exists in the private beta of WhatsApp for Windows Phone, but this is only available for a limited number of people.
When you receive PDF documents, you are provided with options to preview the document and save it locally, so you can open it at a later time straight from the phone.
Just like before, the new WhatsApp version is shipped through the store, so make sure you install it as soon as possible because it might really be worth it if you need to receive documents from your contacts.
Another update that would also bring capabilities to send PDF documents to other friends in your list is expected to land very soon, but there’s still no information on when exactly this is expected to happen. But given the fact that it’s already in beta, it shouldn’t take too long.
Clearly, WhatsApp is getting better on Windows Phone, and fortunately, it’s a sign that not everyone is looking to jump ship to other platform. If only there were more companies like WhatsApp on Windows Phone...
