The folks over at Waze have just announced that they have redesigned their Android application and added a few new features that should better serve users' driving needs.

Waze 4.0 has now been released in Google Play Store, and long-time users will notice that it takes fewer taps to access many of the application's key features.
Developers have added a left button that pulls up the navigation menu and all the user's frequent and favorite destinations when it's tapped.
There's also a similar button to the right, which provides users with quick access to their contacts for a number of actions, including sending directions, your location, and ETA to those awaiting your arrival.
The team behind Waze has also added a new option that allows users to view alternate routes, add a stop or let someone know they are on the way from the center button, where their ETA time is displayed.
Before releasing Waze 4.0 for Android, developers took into consideration all the feedback received from beta testers. According to them, “Wazers love the new report menu, now located right on the map with a big orange button.”
Faster menu, option to sync the Calendar Also, the menu is now faster with bolder, color-coded categories. Furthermore, developers have added a quick report action that users can activate by tapping and holding down the report menu.
Another major new feature included in the update is the option to enable reminders to leave for events on time. The application now provides this type of reminders for Calendar events based on traffic.
Keep in mind that you will have to sync the Calendar so that Waze can look out for traffic, informing users that it's time to hit the road.
Last but not least, the new version of Waze significantly reduces battery consumption so that users can keep the application active for a longer time without losing energy.
You can now download Waze for Android 4.0 for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 4.0 and up.
