Bad news for those who are chronically late: With the latest version of Google Maps for iOS, you have no excuse anymore.

The Web giant on Wednesday added a handy new feature to its Maps app for Apple smartphones that will show you the quickest way to your destination. The app will now display travel times for all transportation types — including train, bus, walking, and biking — on the same screen so you can easily compare your options. It's already available on Android.

"Anyone who has been stuck in city traffic knows that the fastest way from A to B is not always by car, and that public transit, biking or even walking can be a better choice," Google Maps Product Manager Florian Goerisch wrote in a blog post. "Well, now you can stop playing transportation roulette and start navigating with confidence."

Google Maps takes into account real-time traffic and public transportation delays and cancellations. Once you have selected your mode of transportation, Google Maps will provide alternate routes directly on the map, just in case.

"Google Maps for mobile will provide you with the most detailed and useful information so you can make the best decision—whether that means picking up your keys, bike helmet or bus pass," Goerisch wrote.
Meanwhile, Google also this week updated its Maps app for iOS with support for the Apple Watch. The watch app includes a pared-down user interface and buttons for easy access to saved locations like "Home" or "Work."
