Tweetium, the premium Twitter client for Windows Phone platform, has just received a massive update that adds lots of new features and improvements.

The highlights of this update, as confirmed by developers, include improved quote tweet support, drafts and snippets, but also some bug fixes.

Before going into details about Tweetium version 3.5, users should know that developers released an additional update today (3.5.1), which is supposed to fix an error with some searches due to an unexpected issue with Twitter's quoted tweet API change.

Now, version 3.5 is very important because it adds support for saving tweet drafts and frequently used text snippets. Tweet drafts are removed when they are loaded from the menu, but users can then re-save them to keep these drafts longer.

Snippets, on the other hand, are saved until removed (via Settings / Advanced). Keep in mind that drafts and snippets are per account, and roam to other devices. It's also worth mentioning that media attachments are not currently saved with drafts.

Tweetium users will be pleased to know that quoted/embedded tweets are now shown in the main view and that the Quote Tweet button now does “a new style” quote (embedded link) by default.
Support for longer than 140 characters direct messages has been added

Also, the “Classic” quote tweet functionality can now be enabled in Settings / Advanced. Furthermore, developers have added a new “Insert new line” option in the tweet composer, which should be helpful for phone / tablet with default Enter behavior).

The latest update adds support for receiving direct messages longer than 140 characters, but only when this feature will be enabled by Twitter next month.

Some fixes for bugs which could occur when canceling a tweet / thread expansion have been implemented as well. Also, some issues when hitting the back button at certain times while a thread is expanding have been addressed in this update too.

Last but not least, more than two suggestions can now be used in each compose / reply box, which is possible thanks to a new and improved workaround for a Windows Phone 8.1 text box crashing bug.

You can now download Tweetium for Windows Phone for $2.99 via Windows Phone Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Windows Phone 8.1 and up.
