T-Mobile made a couple of announcements on the heels of the iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, and Apple Watch Series 4 launch on Wednesday, quickly confirming all four devices would be sold by the “Un-carrier”, then detailing the full pricing structure and officially kicking off pre-orders at 12:01 am PT earlier today.

But even though the nation’s third-largest wireless service provider introduced a (semi-) decent $300 trade-in deal right off the bat, its “generosity” was overshadowed by BOGO-type discounts available at both Verizon and AT&T.

In response, it didn’t take T-Mo long to one-up its rivals, unveiling a promotion marketed as an “iPhone BOGO squared.” That sounds a little better than it actually is, basically combining the same exact $700 BOGO markdown offered by Verizon and AT&T with a free voice line.

The terms and conditions are somewhat ambiguous, but apparently, you have until Thursday, September 20, at midnight to get both $700 off a second iPhone and an “additional” complimentary service line... with an eligible T-Mobile ONE 2+ voice plan.

You can obviously mix and match the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, X, 8, and 8 Plus however you like, but the product the $700 discount will apply to must be of equal or lesser value than the first.

For example, you can pay for an iPhone XS and receive an iPhone 8 free of charge. Or only pay $300 for a backup XS. Or get an iPhone XS Max, and a second 64GB XS Max at $400 instead of $1,100. Just keep in mind you’ll need to agree to monthly device payment plans for both handsets, with the $700 savings available as 24 equal bill credits. That’s pretty standard stuff at this point, but it’s still nice to see T-Mobile join the iPhone XS BOGO party.
