Indian OEM Karbonn has just announced the upcoming availability of yet another budget-friendly Android smartphone, the stylish Aura.

Beside the fact that it's quite the looker, the Aura doesn't have anything to offer in terms of specs that you would not usually find in another smartphone in the same price range.

But let's start with the software. The folks over at fonearena report that Karbonn Aura will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system right out of the box.

Unfortunately, it's unlikely that this wallet friendly smartphone will ever receive a major OS upgrade like Android 5.0 Lollipop. But we're letting Karbonn confirm the information.

The phone's main strong point is the price. Karbonn Aura will be available for purchase in India in the coming days for just Rs 4,990 outright, which is about $80 or €70.

Customers will be able to pick this one up in gold color from major retail outlets across India, but also via online retailers.
Unimpressive specs, but stylish design

When it comes to specs, Karbonn Aura is totally unimpressive. Although the phone does offer dual-SIM support, its 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display supports 854 x 480 resolution, which is a real letdown.

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, which is probably provided by MediaTek. Also, Karbonn Aura packs only 512MB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD card slot.

On the back, the phone features a 5-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

Speaking of video calls, Karbonn Aura comes with 3G support, as well as other connectivity options including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS.

Lat but not least, Karbonn Aura is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery, which should be enough considering the phone's low-end specs.
