Sony has already announced it is hosting its CES 2015 press event on January 5 in Las Vegas. The company is expected to roll out a bunch of new products, but most importantly its next flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z4, should make a debut at the event.

Even if there are still a few weeks to go before CES opens its gates to the public, the smartphone has apparently shown its face online.

According to Gizmodo, Sony itself was responsible for providing the exposure. Images revealing the upcoming the Xperia Z4 smartphone were sent by Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Executive VP of Consumer Marketing, George Leon, to the company’s CEO (Michael Lynton) in a pitch.

Sony Xperia Z4 to guest star in the next Bond flick?

The pitch mentions the scenario where Sony will be placing the upcoming Z4 phones in Spectre, the new Bond movie that’s set to go on the big screen next year. Talk about enhanced publicity.

The exchange between the two execs reveals a bunch of visuals showing instances of the Z4 handsets, but only one of them is actually a proper render, showing us what the smartphone might actually look like when it makes it out on the market.

However, bear in mind that what you see in the teaser isn’t the final form of the handset. These are probably early designs of it, or maybe not. We can’t be sure at this point.

At CES 2015, Sony is expected to also introduce the Xperia Z4 Compact and Xperia Z4 Ultra handsets alongside the Xperia Z4.

The rumor mill already leaked most of the specifications for the device, so if you missed our earlier coverage, we’re taking the opportunity to remind you right now.

What the rumor mill currently says about the Xperia Z4

The Xperia Z4 is expected to arrive with a 5.4-inch quad HD display with a competent 2560 x 1440 resolution, instead of the previously rumored 5.5-inch form factor.

As for the computing department, Sony will use Qualcomm’s services and add a Snapdragon 805 processor under the hood, which might be disappointing news for those of you hoping to see the Snapdragon 810 instead.

On the back, the Xperia Z4 will don a 20.7-megapixel camera which should sport a next-generation sensor and two additional lens elements in order to be able to collect more light. As for the frontal position, we’re going to have a 4.8MP camera with wide-angle view.

We should also mention the Xperia Z4 should bring about a rather high-capacity 3420 mAh battery, supposed to offer a better life cycle than the Xperia Z3 (which relies on a 3100 mAh one).
