With a few minor hardware upgrades over from the current Z2, but sitting below the XZ2 Premium, it's bit hard to justify Sony's asking XZ3 price. When we look at its display area, though, things are starting to click in this day and age where a sub-$800 flagship is considered a bargain.

Sony pegs the new 6" panel on the Xperia XZ3 as the first "QHD+ HDR OLED display powered by Bravia image processing technology," and we can't agree more with the company. Sony usually equips its flagships with LCD panels, but this time around it went all-out on a beautiful HDR-certified OLED, with the largest diagonal it's ever attempted on a top-shelf Xperia.

This, however, means that the phone itself is pretty large, as there are no notch shenanigans, and the top and bottom bezels are relatively thick for today's standards, as they house greatly improved S Front Surround sound speakers.

The rest of the package is pretty high-end, too, so don't hate the player, hate the game that has forced Sony to price the Xperia XZ3 at $899.99 when it gets released on this side of the pond. That day will be October 17 over at Amazon and Best Buy, with pre-orders starting September 24, 2018. The XZ3 will be available for said hefty price tag with an Xperia Ear Duo freebie thrown in to soothe your purchasing pains.
