Back in April, the mysterious Sony Lavender smartphone leaked online, but since then we haven’t heard anything new related to the handset.

Until this week, when new information popped up online saying that the Lavender smartphone would be launched on the market as the Sony Xperia T4 Ultra. However, a new leak seems to suggest otherwise.

@Upleaks now claims that Lavender will go on sale as the Xperia C5 Ultra, not the T4 Ultra. Which does make a bit of sense given that Sony seems to be preserving odd numbers for phones that will be launched in the second half of 2015 (like the Xperia Z5 flagship).

The leakster was right on spot regarding the Xperia C4, which launched earlier this year, so we can assume that its sources are pretty accurate.
Purported specs of Sony Lavender

Some of Lavender’s specs have also leaked online, so we can tell you that the phone is going to be a mid-range affair, coming with a 5.5-inch display with at least 1080p resolution and extremely narrow bezels.

Since the trend in the mobile industry is to see more and more smartphones with really thin bezels, Sony is trying to abide by the standards. But we’ll have to wait and see if the company manages to pull it off.

It’s unclear whether Lavender will launch with Android 5.0 Lollipop or Android 5.1 Lollipop on board, but we’re hoping the latter will be the case, given that the advent of Android M is imminent.

Moving on, the upcoming Sony phone will take advantage of a 13MP front facing camera with LED flash and it will be powered by a 64-bit MediaTek processor (earlier leaks said an octa-core MediaTek MT6752 chip) fitted with 2GB of RAM.

The current Xperia C4 comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with 1080p resolution and draws life from the same silicone piece mentioned above. The phone also has a 13MP camera on the back and a 5MP selfie snapper with LED flash. Lavender, on the other hand, will have a more capable 13MP selfie shooter at its disposal.

Sony Lavender is expected to launch sometime in August, but we don’t know which markets the phone is headed to or for how much it will sell.
