It looks like Sony is about to launch another high-end smartphone powered by a MediaTek chipset. After the Xperia C4 made its debut on the market earlier this month, the Japanese company has another device in the pipeline.

Dubbed Sony E5663, the smartphone leaked a few times before, but only by its model number and without any information on specs attached to it.

The smartphone appeared for the first time at the Indonesian Postel Regulatory site back in April, but this week, Sony E5663 was spotted at Zauba, the Indian import/export authority, as well as two different benchmark databases (Geekbench and GFXBench).

The good news is the benchmark listings contain detailed info on E5663's specs, so we now know what to expect from the smartphone, XperiaBlog notes.

Well, first of all, Sony E5663 will be powered by a MediaTek MT6795 chipset, which accommodates a 1.9GHz octa-core processor, a PowerVR G6200 graphics processing unit, and 3GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the unannounced smartphone packs 16GB of internal memory, but it is likely to feature microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB) as well.

A selfie-centric Xperia smartphone

If that didn't pique your interest yet, then you should know that Sony E5663 will boast an impressive 13-megapixel camera up in front, which should be perfect for selfies.

Moreover, the smartphone will feature a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

Sony E5663 will sport the same type of screen as the Xperia Z3 Compact, which means it will come out with a 4.6-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

When it comes to software, the E5663 has been confirmed to run the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, but by the time it gets released, a newer version of the platform might be included.

There is no info on pricing options and availability, but since the smartphone appeared at multiple sources, we expect Sony to announce these details pretty soon.
