South Korean phone maker Samsung is back in the front seat as the major driving force in the United States mobile industry. Falling behind Apple in the 3rd quarter of 2014 — shortly after the Cupertino-based phone maker introduced the duo of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus — Samsung once again became the the most popular brand in the region after figures from 2015 Quarter 2 were compiled.

According to statistics put out by Kantar Worldpanel ComTech research firm, the Apple iPhone 6 was the most popular smartphone in the US between April and May 2015 but Samsung smartphones, inspired by the new Galaxy S6, collectively beat Apple in numbers within the period.

The 2014-released Samsung Galaxy S5 was ranked second-best selling smartphone followed by the the Galaxy S6 while the phablet-sized Apple iPhone 6 Plus was placed at fifth position in the most popular order.
