Samsung's next smartphone could boast four rear cameras
Yesterday, Samsung sent out invites to a new “Galaxy event” set to take place on October 11. The South Korean giant didn’t confirm which exact smartphone would be announced but it did hint at a camera-centric launch, something that has just been confirmed by one reliable tipster.
Way back in July, the source in question teased an upcoming smartphone with four cameras on the rear. At the time of this revelation, he failed to confirm who the manufacturer was, instead simply stating that it wasn’t Huawei. Following yesterday’s invite, though, he has seemingly confirmed that this smartphone will indeed be Samsung-branded.
On a related note, Samsung recently claimed that new features would first make their debut on mid-range offerings. And according to yet another reliable tipster, Samsung’s upcoming device will be the first example of this. After all, aside from the quadruple-camera setup on the rear, it looks as though the company has also been testing an in-display fingerprint scanner. It’s still unknown if the feature has made the final cut but it’s certainly a possibility.
Lastly, while most of Samsung’s mid-range offerings are marketed as part of its ongoing Galaxy A series, this smartphone may form part of a new Galaxy lineup, potentially the Galaxy P series. Regardless of the naming, the smartphone should be made available in Huawei-like gradient colors upon launch. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely Samsung will make the device available to purchase in the US.
