A major breakthrough in the battery segment has been reported by Samsung this June. It claims to have found a technology that caters to the design of silicon cathode material for coating a layer of grapheme that rests on the silicon surface of the batteries. This layer is the reason to boost the energy levels pumping it to almost double its initial.

This is definitely a remarkable result from the Research and Development wing of Samsung. In the recent past, a lot of development has been seen in terms of camera, display, model and design, however, there has been no up-gradation whatsoever in the battery domain. Li-on batteries have been used in the mobile since the 1990’s, and as smartphones get thinner, Samsung thinks it’s the right time that someone gets to experiment bigger capacities without causing sizes of batteries to swell up.

Though Samsung claims that the battery boosts up the energy level manifold, there has been no particular say regarding tech’s size vs capacity percentage or the way it will affect the thickness of the phone. Guess we will have to wait and only time can tell about it. However, this is truly an amazing breakthrough in the mobile world which accords for accolades to Samsung.
