Samsung Galaxy Tab S leaked - Sammy’s first 2560x1600 AMOLED tablets to sport eight-core Exynos chip, Galaxy S5-inspired design?

SamMobile's sources have scooped up an elaborate batch of information regarding Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Tab S line. While we advice against taking it for granted, it does appear quite credible. It appears the Galaxy Tab S will be Sammy's top-shelf tablet series, presenting 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch models with 2560x1600 AMOLED displays. After testing waters with its Galaxy Tab 7.7, which was the world's first tablet with a Super AMOLED Plus display, Samsung is feeling confident enough in the technology to give it another try. Its recent progress in the field was enough to win the Galaxy S5's display special accolades from DisplayMate.

In addition, the Galaxy Tab S line will carry fingerprint sensors embedded in their Home-buttons. All related features, such as the Fingerprint Unlock, PayPal Payments, Private Folder, Samsung Apps log-in, will be present on this device.

Hardware-wise, the Galaxy Tab S tablets will be powered by Samsung's octa-core Exynos 5420 chipset, which relies on four Cortex-A9 and four Cortex-A7 cores, along with a six-score Mali-T628 graphics unit, and 3GB of dual-channel 933MHz LPDDR3e RAM. They will also have an 8-megapixel rear camera sensor with 1080p video recording, and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.

In terms of design, the Tab S will continue in traditional Samsung vein. It is described as similar to the Galaxy Tab 4, but slimmer and easier to hold. The back panel will feature the Galaxy S5's perforated pattern, and the color schemes at launch include Shimmer White and Titanium Gray. Interestingly, Samsung is said to have come up with new flip covers which clip on to proprietary connectors embedded in the tablet's back panel.

According to SamMobile, Samsung will release Wi-Fi and LTE variants of the Galaxy Tab S. All are said to be based on the Exynos 5 chipset, while the LTE-capable versions utilize Intel's latest 4G modem.

To top off the information leak, SamMobile published AnTuTu and CPU-z benchmark results of the two tablets. They confirm all the information above, and present a pretty good outlook for the tablets' performance. Achieving a result of 35,268 in AnTuTu while feeding a 2K display and running test software is definitely respectable.

There's no word on when the Galaxy Tab S will be announced. The abundance of information suggests that the tablets are in advanced development stages, which makes us believe they are due for speedy announcement. Then again, lots may change, so while we appreaciate the early insight at Sammy's tablet lab, we definitely prefer having the salt-shaker nearby.
