Nearly a week ago, T-Mobile disseminated an update for its version of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. Besides exterminating a few irksome bugs, the update included the July Android security update. So now it's only a few days later and the carrier is pushing out another software update for the pair. Software version G960USQS3ARG8 is heading to the Galaxy S9 and version G965USQS3ARG8 is enroute to the Galaxy S9+.

The update, which weighs in at 97.26MB, includes the August 1st Android security patch, bringing the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ up to date in terms of protection. And while nothing specific was mentioned in the changelist, it does state that software updates could include bug fixes, stability improvements, new or enhanced features and performance improvements.

While the new update has yet to hit T-Mobile's support pages, we can tell you that once you receive a notification about the update on your Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+, don't go ahead and start the updating process without completing a couple of simple, but important, tasks. First, you need to connect your handset to a Wi-Fi signal. And make sure that your battery is fully charged. Once you've handled those chores, go ahead and start the downloading and installation process.

Since the update is being sent OTA, it is distributed in waves. That means it could take a few days to land on your handset. If you must have the new security update stat (if only to shut up that Pixel 2 XL owner who lives next to you and reminds you every day that he already has the August security update), you can try to coax it out manually by going to Settings > Software update > Download updates manually.
