If Chinese leaks are to be believed, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 could feature an S Pen as an external accessory. If this holds true, the new flagship will be the first of the Galaxy S series to have a stylus.

For now, this feature is reserved exclusively for Samsung's Galaxy Note series, but with the Galaxy Note 7 off the market, the South Korean company found itself without a phablet for loyal Note users to upgrade to. Adding an S Pen to the Galaxy S8 could prove to be the way to meet Note users' needs.

With rumored display sizes for the Galaxy S8 starting at 5.1” and going all the way up to 6.2”, a stylus would make sense. According to the Weibo source, it's unlikely that the S Pen will be integrated in the body of the Galaxy S8, and we're keen to agree, as this would conflict with the series' design up until now, and it will push the upcoming device more towards the Note line of Samsung smartphones.

Considering that we also got indirect confirmation that there will be a Galaxy Note 8 at some point next year, we assume that while Samsung wants to make up for the flopped Note 7, they won't let the Galaxy S8 trespass on Note territory too much.

Of course, considering the rumors that Samsung is testing multiple prototypes of the Galaxy S8, the stylus option could not make it to the market at all. For now, we can only wait and see.
