Samsung has slashed the price of its Android smartwatch, Galaxy Gear by Rs 7,700. The smartwatch, which was launched in India in September last year at Rs 22,990, is now available for Rs 15,290 on the Samsung India eStore.

The Gear acts as an extension to a smartphone by discreetly alerting users to incoming messages and calls on its display screen, which measures 1.63 inches diagonally.

Users can even make calls, secret agent-style without getting out their phone. The Gear also sports a basic camera and works with popular social media and fitness apps such as Twitter and RunKeeper.

The smartwatch is compatible with the Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Grand 2, and Galaxy S4 Zoom. More models compatible with the smartwatch are coming soon, says Samsung.

The Galaxy Gear comes in six colours - Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green.
