Good news for fans of Samsung’s Galaxy A series of smartphones, as the South Korean company has just put the Galaxy S5 on sale. The handset was officially introduced about a month ago, but Samsung did not confirm when exactly the Galaxy A5 would go on sale.

Unfortunately, the smartphone is only available in China for the time being, but the Galaxy A5 will eventually make it to international markets in the coming weeks as well.

Anyway, if you happen to live in China and want to grab the mid-range Android smartphone you can do so for 2,600 yuan outright, which is about $420 or €340.

One of Samsung’s slimmest smartphones available on the market, the Galaxy A5 comes in two versions: single SIM and dual SIM. The dual-SIM version has been recently released in China, but the single-SIM variant is supposed to make it to international markets.

Another country where the dual-SIM Galaxy A5 might be introduced is India, but this is just pure speculation for the moment. Customers in other emerging markets where dual-SIM capability is mandatory might be able to get the dual-SIM model at some point as well.

As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy A5 is one of the thinnest smartphones ever launched by Samsung at 6.7mm. The device weighs only 123g (battery included) and features a full metal clad chassis.

The dual-SIM Samsung Galaxy A5 is now available in China

Spec-wise, Samsung Galaxy A5 is in the mid-range segment. The device is equipped with a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, an Adreno 306 graphics processing unit, and 2GB of RAM.

It also packs 16GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 64GB). The Galaxy A5 sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features 294ppi (pixel per inch).

On the back, the premium smartphone is packed with an enhanced 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while on the front there’s a secondary 5-megapixel camera for great selfies.

Last but not least, the Galaxy A5 is powered by a non-removable 2,300 mAh battery and offers a variety of connectivity options, including LTE Cat.4, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC (Near Field Communication), microUSB 2.0, and GPS with A-GPS.

Samsung Galaxy A5 ships with Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box, but we expect the South Korean company to offer an upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop at some point next year.
