Earlier rumors regarding the Galaxy S10 hinted that Samsung will probably switch to another name for the next flagship smartphone. After Galaxy S9, one expects the name of its successor to be Galaxy S10. However, that might not happen and Samsung has itself confirmed that it is exploring a new name for the upcoming successor.

Galaxy Note 9 Name to Be Retained – Galaxy S10 Might Be Called Galaxy X During Its Official Unveiling

Dj Koh, who is the head of Samsung’s mobile division, told reporters during the MWC 2018 trade show that Samsung is contemplating over the existing name scheme for the next Galaxy S flagship, which if you go by the numbers, is going to be called Galaxy S10. However, there are rumors that the upcoming phone is going to be called Galaxy X but that might also become the name of the smartphone that will feature a foldable display.

“Although Samsung will stick to Galaxy, we have been thinking about whether we need to maintain the S moniker or the numbering system.”

This possibility had previously emerged in the past, but Samsung did not make any comments at the time. This is the first time that Samsung has mentioned the possibility of a change in the naming convention for the next Galaxy S flagship. However, Koh said that the company will keep the ‘Galaxy’ part, but is discussing whether they should keep the S moniker or the numbering system.

Though the rumored Galaxy S10 is still a whole year away from being announced, our earliest look at the specifications leak reveals that the smartphone will be unlike we’ve ever seen. Even with bezel-less phones storming the front of the industry, these specifications are unlike you have ever read about.
