Niantic has just announced it will stop supporting Apple devices that aren't running iOS 11 next month. If you own an iPhone 5 or iPhone 5c, you won't be able to play Pokemon GO any longer, the developer announced.

Apparently, the new change will take effect on February 28 via an update to the game. The reason behind Niantic's decision to discontinue support for Apple devices that can't be upgraded to iOS 11 stems from that fact that improvements to the game are now pushing Pokemon GO “beyond the capabilities of the operating system on such devices.”

So, after February 28, if you own an Apple device still not running iOS 11, you will no longer be able to access Pokemon GO account or make use of your PokeCoins and other items in the Bags.

Your Pokemon GO account will not be lost, but you will need to switch to a supported device to continue to play the game. Here are all Apple devices that will be affected by this change: iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPad 4th Gen, iPad 3rd Gen, iPad mini, and iPad 2.
