With more than 50 million downloads on Google Play Store, Opera for Android is one of the most popular mobile browsers for Google’s platform, one more reason for developers to try and keep the bar high when it comes to functionality and performance.

The new version of Opera that has just been released on Google Play Store brings quite a few new features and improvements, which are meant to improve user experience, especially for those who are taking advantage of both the Android and desktop versions.

One of the most important improvements included in Opera version 15 for Android devices is the ability to bookmark websites. The new option has been placed on the Speed Dial, and developers also allow users to arrange their bookmarks in any folder they want.

Users can arrange their bookmarks by drag, drop and select multiple entries, as well as swipe in order to delete any unwanted bookmarks. According to developers, all existing Android bookmarks should be available in a separate bookmarks folder.

But this is not the only important improvement that Opera for Android got in the latest update. The famous Speed Dial has been enhanced as well to meet even the most demanding needs of those who opt to use the mobile browser.

You can now swipe upwards to activate an online search

With the latest version of Opera for Android, users can keep track of their favorite sites directly in Speed Dial. You only need to add a new entry by tapping the + button. In addition, users can also edit a Speed Dial entry by tap and hold, and then dragging it to Edit at the top screen.

Another tweak that should make user experience much smoother. You can now swipe upwards from anywhere on the Android device, even when not inside Opera, and you will be presented with a search window.

As soon as the new Opera browser is installed on your Android device, it will get added in that device’s options for swipe-to-search.

Simply swipe up and when presented with a short menu, choose Opera for Android, then tap Always. Keep in mind though that the swipe-to-search gesture is only compatible with devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.

Moreover, on some Android devices, the search action may only be triggered by long-pressing the Home button instead of swiping upwards.

You can now download Opera for Android 25 for free via Google Play Store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.
