The biggest rumored change for the OnePlus 7 is without a doubt a true edge-to-edge screen. No notch, no disruptions. The images above present the most substantial leak so far and come from one of the most reliable leaksters around, @OnLeaks, so while these are not official pictures, they are as close as you'd get to the real thing.

How can OnePlus achieve this? Just like other Chinese companies have: the Honor Magic 2 and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 are two devices that already have such a design, and to achieve the full-screen trick, they use a slider design. Yes, just like all those phones from back in the day.

The OnePlus 7 is expected to be similar: a two-part design with the top part sliding down to reveal the bottom part where you have the front camera. This would mean that you would need to quickly slide the phone down and up if you want to use the face recognition system.

The OnePlus 6T is a very reliable phone that runs impressively smoothly, but one thing that we noticed and many people agree with is that the optical fingerprint scanner that is embedded inside the display is just not as fast as a traditional fingerprint scanner.

We expect the OnePlus 7 to rectify this: expectations are that the fingerprint reader will be bigger and nearly 30% faster, at least that's what we have gotten on phones by Oppo and Vivo, made by the same parent company as OnePlus. The fingerprint will likely remain as an optical one, rather than the ultrasonic type that we saw in the Galaxy S10. That's not necessarily a bad thing: we have already seen Huawei implement this newer generation of optical fingerprint readers in its P30 Pro and it works much better than earlier generations.

If there was just one thing that keeps OnePlus from completely taking over mainstream flagships that would have to be the camera: it performs very well during the day, but just can't quite keep up with the best at night.

While this is just a speculation, the launch of the new OnePlus 7 coincides with availability for Sony's brand new 48-megapixel sensor for phones and that one holds a big promise. It uses pixel-binning technology and combines four pixels into one to deliver a big improvement in low-light photos.

This sensor could well be the main shooter, but not the only one. The OnePlus 7 is said to feature a triple camera system on the back. So far, rumors point to a main shooter plus a secondary camera used to gather additional depth information plus an ultra-wide angle camera.

But the coolest feature that makes the truly edge-to-edge design of the OnePlus 7 possible is the pop-out selfie camera.

The camera will appear whenever you switch to taking a selfie in the camera application and otherwise it will remain retracted inside the phone.

Other phones made by the parent company of OnePlus advertize that a pop-out selfie camera takes just 0.67 seconds (less than a second!) to appear, so it's definitely fast. We are yet to see how well the mechanism will work over the long term, though.

OnePlus has slowly, but steadily increased prices for its phones and we expect the price to grow even further with the OnePlus 7. The new generation processor and the rumored edge-to-edge screen are big improvements that would certainly justify a price hike.

We expect the OnePlus 7 price to start at around $580 to $600 for the base model, with higher prices for models with more RAM and added storage. With Apple and Samsung's meteoric increases in the price of mainstream flagships, OnePlus certainly has the wiggle room to raise the price and still be considered an excellent value for the money.

The OnePlus 7 release date is not announced yet, so we can only take an educated guess here and our guess would be that the phone will be released in May or June of 2019. OnePlus has unveiled all its recent phones (OnePlus 6, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 3) in late May and early June, and we expect it to stick to this schedule.
