With the OnePlus 6T just days away, the company behind the upcoming smartphone invited a British YouTuber over to its headquarters in Shenzhen, China to take an exclusive look at the flagship device ahead of its unveiling.

As the OnePlus 6T isn’t yet official, the YouTuber in question wasn’t allowed to show off the smartphone in his video. However, he was given an extensive tour of OnePlus’ headquarters and was also shown a number of old OnePlus 6 Prototypes. Ultimately, the company chose to release the OnePlus 6 in Midnight Black and Mirror Black – a limited number of devices in Flame Red and Silk White were also sold – but it turns out OnePlus actually tested a wide range of finishes. These covered everything from blue and purple to a huge number of gradient options that look quite unique.

Considering the popularity of the Huawei P20 Pro’s Twilight finish, it’s unclear exactly why OnePlus chose to skip the gradient finishes it looked into. However, it's highly likely that the very limited profit margin the brand operates forced it to choose the colors that it knew would sell in high quantities.

In regards to the upcoming OnePlus 6T, the smartphone is now set to go official on October 29. It will be available to purchase in most international markets starting November 6 and should arrive in the Midnight Black and Mirror Black finishes. A purple version of the flagship has also been rumored but is yet to leak.
