Whether you think HMD Global should take a high-end gamble or not, it appears a nostalgia-evoking Nokia 9 PureView is in the works. But first, an upper mid-range Nokia 7.1 and/or 7.1 Plus are expected to see daylight in India on October 11.

We already have quite a bit of inside information on HMD’s third (and fourth?) notch-housing handset, recently revealed to carry model number TA-1131 by China’s FCC-equivalent certification agency.

Following in the footsteps of the X5 and X6, the phone is likely to be branded the Nokia X7 in the world’s largest smartphone market, while its global variant may have just paid the US Federal Communications Commission a quick regulatory visit under the TA-1113 model number.

The paperwork was apparently submitted on September 29, with a number of documents made public just yesterday, disclosing among others the battery capacity of this “mysterious” HMD-designed, China-made TA-1113 device.

This fits the 3,400 mAh cell size confirmed for the TA-1131 in Tenaa’s database, which is unlikely to be a coincidence. Unfortunately, the FCC is as secretive as usual regarding other specifications and features.

Then again, if there’s only one phone coming after all, it might as well be official already. Its 6.18-inch screen is expected to sport 2246 x 1080 resolution, while a Snapdragon 710 processor likely resides under the hood, paired with up to 6GB RAM and either 64 or 128GB storage space.

Android 9.0 Pie should run the software show out the box, with 12 + 13MP dual cameras mounted on the handset’s back, and a single 20MP selfie shooter in tow. There are no words on pricing yet, but that’s what launch events are for.
