Today was a pretty big day for HMD Global, but not as big as you may have expected, considering the exclusive Nokia brand licensee simply expanded two mid-range Android phones from China to India instead of unveiling an all-new flagship model.

But both the Nokia 6.1 Plus, formerly known as X6, and the Nokia 5.1 Plus, aka X5, are now listed on the company’s “international” website in addition to the India-specific domain, which probably means they’re headed for other markets as well.

Unfortunately, HMD hasn’t confirmed anything about an “international” price point for the Snapdragon 636-powered, FHD+ capable 6.1 Plus, which is only specifically listed as coming soon in South Africa.

Things are different as far as the slightly humber Nokia 5.1 Plus is concerned, which oddly enough, doesn’t have a precise release date and price tag attached to its revised name in India. Before reaching the world’s second-largest smartphone market sometime next month, the Helio P60 power-packing 5.8-incher will apparently be available in other “selected” regions “from August.”

The end of the month is just a little over a week away, so obviously, official sales are bound to kick off very soon in countries like Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine. Possibly, Germany and the UK too, where the phone reportedly showed up earlier today before HMD wiped all traces of its existence from the company’s respective regional websites.

But perhaps the most important detail revealed on Twitter following the formal introduction of the Nokia 5.1 Plus in India is an “average retail” price of €199. That roughly equates to $230, although if the 5.1 Plus was ever to come to the US, it would probably sell for just $200.

Either way, this is a pretty great budget device, with an extra-tall screen squeezed into a remarkably compact body, premium build quality, dual rear-facing cameras, a respectable 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage space, and above all, “secure and up to date” Android One software.
