A new app in the Windows Phone Store, Office Lens, is supposed to turn your Windows Phone 8 powered handset into a scanner. Using optical character recognition, you can take a picture of a white or blackboard, business cards, or documents, and have the information saved to OneNote. You can even use the app to snap handwritten shopping lists, menus or children's sketches.

Even though the app is listed in the Windows Phone Store, it currently is undergoing testing by Microsoft and cannot be downloaded by anyone just yet. But it certainly sounds like an app that could be very useful to Windows Phone users. After you scan a document, it will be stored digitally. And the OCR capabilities will allow you to scan a document and edit it.

We will keep an eye out on the listing, and as soon as Microsoft goes live with Office Lens, we'll let you know. After all, who wouldn't want to have a scanner in their pocket.
