Motorola started testing Android 8.0 Oreo for Moto G5 and G5 Plus more than a month ago, but an official build hasn't been released until this week. Lenovo confirmed yesterday that it has kicked off the Moto G5 and G5 Plus Android 8.0 Oreo rollout, but only in a few regions.

First off, the update is only available in Mexico for the Moto G5, as well as Brazil and India for the Moto G5 Plus. Also, it's not even available to everyone immediately because this is a staged deployment, so it may take up to a week to land on all devices.

Last but not least, Lenovo stated that “other regions are still pending and will get the update in the future.” Due to the cryptic message, it's impossible to tell when the update will land in the United States or other markets that aren't included in the first wave.

Well, at least we now know the status of the update and if you live in the United States, we'll let you know when the Moto G5 and G5 Plus will receive Android 8.0 Oreo.
