The Moto Maxx is the global version of the DROID Turbo, Motorola’s flagships smartphone exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the United States.

The US-based handset maker, now part of Lenovo, announced the Moto Maxx as an alternative to the DROID Turbo, but for international markets.

That’s one of the reasons everyone thought the Motorola Moto Maxx will be available worldwide at some point. Well, it looks like our assumption could not be more wrong, as Motorola does not seem to be interested in bringing its flagship handset to a worldwide audience.

Italian blog site TuttoAndroid.net reports Motorola France confirmed the Moto Maxx wouldn’t be available in this country and for what it’s worth, it will not be available in any European countries anytime soon.

The information comes a huge disappointment for those anxious to get their hands on Motorola’s newest high-end smartphone, which is already available in select markets in North and South Americas.

However, there’s hope that Motorola may change its decision in the next couple of weeks and here is why. Details on Moto Maxx’s availability in France came via Motorola France as a reply to a tweet that was enquiring on this matter.

The good news is the tweet in question, which said the Moto Maxx would not be available in France or in any other European country, has since been deleted.

Since launching the Moto Max in Brazil last week, Motorola confirmed the smartphone would be available in select international markets, such as Mexico and other countries in Latin America.

It’s a bit confusing that Motorola doesn’t come forward with an official statement regarding the availability of the Moto Maxx. Currently, the smartphone sells for around $870 (€700) outright, but price may be different depending on location.

The Moto Maxx packs the same features as the DROID Turbo, so you can expect a stunning 5.2-inch OLED Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) capacitive touchscreen display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

Hardware-wise, the smartphone is equipped with a powerful 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, an Adreno 420 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM.

There’s also an impressive 21-megapixel camera on the back, which features dual-LED flash, autofocus and 4K video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front.

Motorola Moto Maxx is splash resistant and drains energy from a huge non-removable 3,900 mAh battery, which fully supports the Motorola Turbo charger allowing for up to 60% charging in about 30 minutes.
