Motorola’s upcoming Moto Z3 Play has just appeared in a new render. The Chicago-based brand is currently expected to reveal its upcoming upper-midrange device towards the beginning of summer and now, following a number of case leaks, an official press render has apparently appeared, revealing the device’s design entirely.

Continuing with the company’s recent trend, the Moto Z3 Play sports a 6-inch, 18:9 display which minimizes bezels at both the top and bottom. Because of this, the fingerprint scanner has been removed from the front of the device and, in its spot, the company has placed its own branding. In addition, there is no sight of a display notch, with the Moto Z3 Play sticking to a more traditional top bezel which is home to the in-ear speaker, the proximity sensor, and the front-facing selfie camera. Speaking of which, the sensor is set to boast a 5-megapixel resolution.

Moving over to the rear, Motorola’s new device sticks to the design language debuted back in 2016 with the original Moto Z series. This means a rather large, circular camera module is present alongside the usual Moto Mods connector. Interestingly, however, Motorola has switched out the aluminum construction for a premium glass build, suggesting wireless charging may be supported. Furthermore, a dual-camera setup is present inside the rear module – a main 12-megapixel sensor is featured alongside a secondary 8-megapixel lens – which is coupled with a dual-tone LED flash.

On a slightly more interesting note, the Moto Z3 Play will also be Motorola’s first device to feature a side fingerprint scanner, set to be positioned below the volume buttons that are present on the right side of the device. Regarding other design choices, Motorola appears to have removed the 3.5mm headphone jack with this generation device. Instead, the bottom of the device simply boasts a USB connector.

No internal specifications have been confirmed as of yet by Motorola, but recent information claims the Moto Z3 Play will boast Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 alongside 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. In addition, a 3,000mAh battery is expected to keep the lights on and, on the software side of things, Android 8.1 Oreo is set to be included straight out of the box.
