One of Microsoft’s popular Garage projects, Next Lock Screen, is an Android productivity application with decent ratings on Google Play Store.

For those who have yet to use it yet, Microsoft’s Next Lock Screen allows users to quickly launch their favorite applications and the most often used information.

It also features a built-in calendar, missed calls, text messages and more. You can even make conference calls without having to unlock your smartphone.

In the latest update, Microsoft removed some unwanted features and added a few others. For example, the Home button press has been disabled in order to prevent accidental unlocks.

On the other hand, developers have added the option to lock your smartphone with a PIN or pattern, something that Android already offers by default.

Lots of bug fixes and performance optimization has been included in the update as well. According to Microsoft, along with the launch of the newest version of Next Lock Screen, the application is now available in three languages: English, Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin).

If you don’t have the application yet, you can now download Next Lock Screen for Android 2.0.11366 for free via Google Play Store. The app should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.
