Earlier this week, Nokia made it pretty clear that it was avidly considering plans of returning to the smartphone market during the fourth quarter of 2016. The Finnish company, which got acquired by Microsoft a while back, said in an official statement that it was looking for a “world-class partner” to help it achieve this goal.

And today, we get a hint of whom Nokia might end up partnering with. Up and rising Chinese phone manufacturer Meizu has posted a rather interesting teaser image on Weibo, showcasing tomorrow’s date (16.07.2015) and the words “the long era of intelligent machines 1110” (translation according to Gizmo China).

Obviously, the 1100 reference makes us think of Nokia’s iconic 1110 feature phone, which was one of the best-selling products the company ever put on the market.

This is not the first time we hear that Nokia and Meizu will hook up in order to produce a new smartphone model.
Will Meizu and Nokia join forces after all?

Rumors have been flying around for quite some time that the two smartphone makers will partner up in order to produce a version of the MX4 flagship, which will be dubbed “Supreme.”

Information floating around the web has been pretty wild, suggesting the MX4 Supreme will be an Android-powered device with Nokia’s PureView technology embedded in the camera living on the back. An older Weibo post revealed that the phone might end up offering a camera with a 60MP sensor.

The rest of the specs are yet to be unveiled, but we have to assume that, with a name like Supreme, the phone will probably come equipped with top-of-the-line specifications.

Anyway, while we wait to see whether Nokia and Meizu’s partnership materializes into something palpable, we’re taking the opportunity to remind you that Meizu has recently unveiled its latest flagship, the MX5.

The device arrives with a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixel resolution) and a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6975 chipset fitted with 3GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage (microSD card slot for memory expansion).

The phone also takes advantage of a 20MP main camera with Sony sensor and laser autofocus, plus an 8MP front-facing camera that will be capable of snapping high-quality selfies.
