Microsoft and Nokia themselves revealed a few months ago that Lumia Denim would launch later this year, and it appears that November is very likely to bring us the eagerly awaited phone update.

These details come via Twitter user and former Microsoftie @Nawzil8, who writes that Microsoft is already giving the final touches to Denim and is very likely to release it in the next couple of months for a number of users.

At first, only flagship phones will get Denim, the source says, so in case you own a Lumia 930 or a 1520, you’re among the first to get their hands on the new firmware updates.

All the other Lumia phones should get Denim shortly after that, with the rollout very likely to extend until the end of the year.
What’s in Denim?

Lumia Denim will come with quite a wide array of improvements, including all those available in Windows Phone 8.1 Update, so those who haven’t installed this one yet could skip directly to the upcoming new firmware to get all the goodies.

First and foremost, Denim brings Cortana on all devices, with UK and Chinese consumers to continue using the beta, while India, Canada and Australia will get access to a public Alpha.

Live folders, Apps Corner, SMS merge and forwarding, snooze times, and store live tile will all be included in Denim, as all of these are already available on devices running Windows Phone 8.1 Update.

In addition, Lumia Denim will also come with some other exclusive improvements, among which Lumia Camera, which officially replaces Nokia Camera and brings “faster and more intuitive than before to make the best camera experience even better,” as Nokia said.

Enhanced shooting speed and a rich capture mode will also be available on devices running Denim, with the latter to include auto HDR and Dynamic Flash to “shoot first and adjust the camera settings later for the perfect photo.”

Last but not least, devices that will be updated to Denim will also get enhanced Glance Screen options, obviously on smartphones that support it. The new Glance will come with more information provided by Bing Weather and Bing Health & Fitness.

“Hey Cortana” activation will debut with Lumia Denim, giving Windows Phone users the option to activate the personal assistant with a quick voice command.

As you most likely know, Lumia Denim is already available on a couple of devices, namely Lumia 830 and Lumia 735, and judging by the recent app updates, flagships could get it very soon as well.
