Two of Microsoft's upcoming flagship smartphones, the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL, are expected to arrive later this year.

In fact, given that these handsets will be powered by Windows 10 Mobile, they won't be available on the market until Microsoft releases its new OS.

Until then though, we can talk about what we think is inside these smartphones. As many sources claim, Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL will be beefed up with some of the most powerful hardware available on the market.

However, Microsoft will work on the software part as well so that its smartphones would differentiate from other flagships powered by other mobile platforms.

Since we have already reported on the leaked specs of the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL, here is something that we haven't yet talked about.

According to NPU, source familiar with Microsoft's plans have confirmed that Lumia 940 XL will come with some exclusive features. These features include 3D interaction and multi-window support.

These exclusive features will be available in Lumia 940 as well. Unfortunately, due to the fact that these features are still in the works, it's unclear whether or not they will be included in these smartphones.

Still, there are good chances that Microsoft will be able to finish work on these exclusive features just in time for Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL release.

Apart from that, the cited source also offers us another glimpse into Lumia 940 XL's full specs list, which has already been “confirmed” by the rumor mill.

Lumia 940 XL will feature a slim design with metallic unibody frame. It will boast a large 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and a powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor.

Furthermore, the smartphone will be equipped with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory, but also a microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

On the back, there will be a 20-megapixel PureView camera with Short Pulse variable-tone LED flash, while on the front there should be a 5-megapixel camera.

Last but not least, Lumia 940 XL will pack USB Type-C & dual-role support, as well as iris scanner and native pen support.
